Subsolar iPhone game launched…

January 27th, 2011

I am proud to announce the latest game project with my music: “Subsolar” by indie developer Tenshi Noir Entertainment is an action-packet arcade game for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, with full retina graphics and an intriguing new style of gameplay. The game, music and sounds are finely tuned to take the player on a hypnotic journey into deep space. Thanks to the team at Tenshi Noir and my good friend Manus Buchart for his awesome Guitar work… :)

What is Kubrik???

November 23rd, 2010

Have you got what it takes to get the Kobotos home?

The Kobotos are a race of cute little robots that have got themselves lost in a colorful but treacherous land. Armed only with a box of tools, your task is to help them get home.

Kubrik is a innovative and highly addictive new puzzle-platformer that will keep you entertained for hours as you navigate your way through 60 challenging levels in 3 beautiful worlds. The unique tool-switching gameplay means that you will need to use both skill and logic to make your way though, and each level will provide you with fresh challenges. Hidden tokens scattered throughout the levels will ensure that even if you can rescue all the Kobotos, there’s still much more fun to be had.

* Varied and innovative gameplay
* Intuitive tilt-n-tap controls
* Realistic physics
* Gorgeous 3d graphics
* Original soundtrack by composer Chris Huelsbeck.

Kubrik is availble in the iTunes App Store: http://ax.itunes.apple.com/app/kubrik/id403117523?mt=8

September 15th, 2010

We are happy to introduce a new digital music release from Chris Huelsbeck Productions / synSONIQ Records: The “R-Type Themes EP” contains the theme music pieces of all the R-Type versions Chris Huelsbeck worked on–starting with the C64, followed by the Amiga and most recently on the iPhone. Included are recordings of the original computer hardware (the C64 Theme on this album was in fact recorded from the exact machine that was used to create the piece in 1989) as well as Remixes / Extended versions produced in the studio and also the live orchestral performance from the Symphonic Shades concert. Here’s the cover art (with thanks to Kaspar Zenklusen) and the complete track listing:

Number Nine Album reviewed at Square Enix Music Online

August 11th, 2010

Don Kotowski from the well known game music site “Square Enix Music Online” has reviewed my Number Nine Album and gave it 10 out of 10… I couldn’t be more happy, specially this came kind of out of the blue! :)

From the review: “While I can’t say that I’m extremely familiar with the music of Chris Hülsbeck, I went out of my way to get this album due to the preview featured on his website. Having first been truly introduced to his music through the marvelously arranged Symphonic Shades album, I felt it was part of my duty to explore more artists to get an original album of music that featured a different side than what I had heard. I am extremely glad that I did. This album features some exquisitely produced electronic music that manages to incorporate a variety of moods and cultures. Although I didn’t mention every track on the album, they are all very much worth the listen.”

R-Type iPhone has new theme music by Chris Huelsbeck

July 29th, 2010

Very exciting news: The upcoming release of R-Type for the iPhone features a new theme music by Chris for the title screen. Published by EA Mobile, developed/ported by DotEmu, the arcade classic by Irem is a delightful conversion for the iPhone/iPod Touch. One of the developers at DotEmu remembered Chris’s theme music pieces for the C64 and Amiga versions and suggested contacting Chris Huelsbeck Productions. The music has a deliberate retro feel with some hints of the older melodies, but with modern production elements – it really kicks butt just like R-Type strikes the evil Bydo empire! :)

Here are some screen shots:

Spieleveteranen Podcast with new music now online!

June 30th, 2010

As announced earlier, the new theme music for the German Spieleveteranen (Game Veterans) Podcast is now live with their latest edition (#20). There is a short intro piece and a longer version at the end. The music is deliberately retro styled, with added Commodore 64 SID sounds and was a lot of fun to produce! :)

I was also invited to their Podcast to sit in and talk about the E3 Show, the good old times and what is happening these days (German only).
